We value the trust you place in us to be your credit union partner for life. And we want to make every effort to raise awareness of scams and fraud that can put you, your friends, and your family at risk. Elements continually takes active measures in all activities to protect your accounts from scams or fraud, however, every member also plays a key role in the protection of one’s own accounts.

If you receive a telephone call or a text message that claims to be from Elements, you must NEVER PROVIDE YOUR SECURE ACCESS CODES, PASSWORDS, USER IDs, FULL DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, OR PINs — even if the caller ID, text, or email shows "Elements Financial" as the sender. This is a tactic called "spoofing." We will never call you to ask for this information.

You might receive calls, texts, and/or emails from an automated system when we detect suspicious activity on your accounts. These calls are intended to confirm whether the transaction(s) are legitimate so appropriate measures can be taken if they are not.

Elements will never ask you for this information when calling you.

  • Online Banking Passwords or User IDs
  • Online Banking Secure Access Code or One-Time Passcode
  • Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your debit or credit cards
  • Full 16 digits of your debit or credit card number (If you contact us first, we may ask you to verify the last four digits.)
  • Social Security Number (If you contact us first, we may ask you to verify.)
  • Member Number (If you contact us first, we may ask you to verify.)

What can I do to prevent fraud?

Steps You Can Take to Prevent Fraud

  • Do not trust caller ID. Fraudsters can spoof phone numbers including Elements' 800-621-2105 and 317-276-2105 telephone numbers to make it look like we’re calling you. If you receive what feels like a questionable call with our caller ID, hang up and call us back directly. You can always call us 24/7.
  • Be suspicious and never provide your secure information. Do not provide your Online Banking password, user ID, or secure access code. Do not provide your debit or credit card numbers, or PIN to ANYONE. Elements will never ask you for this information.
  • Use account alerts for creditdebit, and cash cards. We offer near real-time fraud alerts for our Elements credit, debit, and cash cards. With a quick text alert, you can help prevent fraudulent transactions from occurring on your cards. A text message will be sent to your mobile device when there is a suspicious transaction identified on your account. Simply reply to confirm whether or not you recognize the transaction(s). We do not include links or ask for additional information in these texts. If you get a text message with a link that appears to be from Elements, do not click on it or provide any additional information. Reach out to Elements directly and let us know about the text message. 
  • Control your debit card with Card Control. You can create custom real-time alerts for your debit card transactions and even restrict your card if it is lost or stolen. Download the Card Control app within our Elements mobile app by selecting Card Control from the app menu or by visiting the Apple or Google Play store directly if you already have the mobile banking app.
  • Secure your online banking username and password. If your Online Banking User ID or password is your name, member number, email address, or other easily identifiable information, please change it immediately. You can change this in online banking or the mobile app within Settings. Read more tips on our Online Security page.
  • Contact us with questions. If something sounds too good to be true, or if someone wants you to take action urgently, please STOP, THINK, and CONTACT US.

  • We'll confirm who you are. If you call us, we may take extra steps to confirm your identity. Often, a fraudster already knows a lot about you, including your birth date and social security number. As such, we do not rely on that information alone to identify you. We may ask for other information we have on record to confirm that it's really you. Please be patient with this process.
  • We use fraud detection practices. We review and adjust fraud detection settings on card purchases to further protect you against unauthorized transactions. Our team and state of the art fraud detection systems are monitoring your account 24/7. We will contact you if any transactions raise concerns.
  • We'll never ask for your full card number. Our card services or fraud departments may ask you for the last 4 digits of your card if you contact us first, but will NOT ask for the full 16 digits. We will NEVER ask you for a PIN or the CVV digits from the back of the card.

Passwords and PINs are intended to limit access to your accounts and belong exclusively to the individual member. It's your responsibility to protect this information.

Secure Access Codes and One-Time Passcodes are used by Elements to identify you while conducting a transaction online. You should never provide a One-Time Passcode to our personnel unless you called us.
